Deshante’s Story

I received an email from Embrace Grace inviting me to join. At the time, I didn't really want to meet anybody new. I was pregnant, tired, and working full-time. I had so many things going on I didn't want to commit to anything else. Even still, I decided to try it out, and if I didn't like it, I wouldn't return.

So I went, and I was pleasantly surprised! Everyone was super welcoming and warm. Embrace Grace was everything I needed that I didn't know I needed. I was taken aback by the amount of support I received.

I don't really have any family, so Embrace Grace became my family. I had a lot of complications during my pregnancy that put me in the hospital. My pregnancy was high-risk. So, I shouldn't have been working at all, but I had my three-year-old to support. Everything was just so hard on my body. When I went into labor, I didn't even know it. I thought I was cramping, but when I got to the hospital, I was in full-blown labor!

I didn't tell anyone because I like to get through things on my own. I tell myself I can handle it– that I'll get through it alone. But then I thought of texting my leader to let me know after the doctors told me how serious the situation was. And like clockwork, they were blowing up my phone with support! As soon as I got admitted to the hospital, there was a different leader with me every day. I was overwhelmed to tears with the amount of love and support I received. They were ensuring my son and I were fed and cared for. I've never had a support system like this in my life.

I'm just so thankful. I couldn't believe it. Like, I'm a stranger. Why do you care about me so much? It's just so beautiful. Everyone I've met has been such a blessing in my life. Embrace Grace was everything I needed and more!
